The operating system
Privacy, with a little magic.
Tome OS is a private operating system for Android phones. No Google tracking, live talk with the people you trust, and a command bar that reaches every setting.
What's inside
Built on Android without Google's apps or tracking, and shaped around talking to people.
Telemancer, built in
Hold a contact to talk and they hear you live, like a radio. If they've turned live audio off, your words arrive as a Scroll instead.
Private by default
No Google apps, no Google tracking, and none of the hidden background check-ins that phones make out of the box.
Command bar
Type to do almost anything, from messaging a friend to changing a setting.
@tim on my wayYou decide who reaches you
Only contacts you approve can talk to you live. Turn live audio off whenever you like, and their words wait for you as a Scroll.
Encrypted end to end
Live talk and Scrolls are locked on your phone and unlocked only on theirs. Nobody in between can listen, including us.
Calls, texts and voice together
Regular calls, text messages and Scrolls from each person sit in one conversation, so nothing gets lost between apps.
Talk with friends on any phone
Your friends don't need Tome OS. With the Telemancer app, they can talk live with you from any Android phone.

Each phone has two files: the system and its boot images. Download both. The checksum links let you check a file wasn't changed on the way to you.
How to install
Installing Tome OS erases the phone, so back up anything you want to keep first.
Update, then unlock
Update the phone to Android 17, then turn on OEM unlocking in Developer options. Phones locked to a carrier, like Verizon Pixels, can't be unlocked.
Get the tools
Install Google's free Android Platform Tools on your Windows, Mac or Linux computer and connect the phone by USB.
Flash Tome OS
Download the build for your phone and run the flash script. It checks the phone model first and asks before erasing anything.
Changed your mind?
You can always go back to stock Android with Google's Android Flash Tool at flash.android.com.
